Quick Answer
Spoilers ahead. The Blood of Dawnwalker has several finale routes, two well-documented early exits, a prologue victory variation, and a 30-day failure outcome. There is no published official total: major guides count 7, 8, or as many as 14 endings and alternate paths because they classify those routes and epilogues differently.
The practical checklist is The Turncoat / In the Nick of Time, The Folk Hero, The Patricide, The Knyazmaker, A Hero They Deserve, Together Forever, and Time Runs Out, with the prologue Brencis victory and other route variations explaining the higher counts.
How Many Endings Are There?
There is no reliable official answer of exactly seven, eight, or fourteen. The common seven-outcome checklist groups The Turncoat and In the Nick of Time together, counts Time Runs Out as an outcome, and does not split every alternate trigger. Other lists count the prologue Brencis victory separately or give distinct route and epilogue variations their own entries.
| Guide | Count | What they include |
|---|---|---|
| PowerPyx | 7 outcomes | The distinct, named conclusions the game resolves into. |
| PC Gamer | 8 | A slightly wider set, splitting one branch PowerPyx merges. |
| Kephket | 14 "Endings & Alternate Paths" | Ending labels mixed with alternate triggers, paths, and epilogue variations. |
No official number
Rebel Wolves has not published a canonical "there are N endings" figure. Treat any single number as one guide’s taxonomy, not a fixed total.
Ending Routes vs Epilogue Variations
A finale route decides how Coen resolves the confrontation with Brencis: alone, beside Lacra, beside Crake and the Manumit, or through a deal. An alternate path reaches a familiar ending label by a different trigger, while an epilogue variation changes who appears or what is said after the central result. Character quest completion and romance can colour an epilogue without creating a wholly new finale.
- Finale routes — the major ways the final conflict resolves, including the solo, Lacra, Crake / Manumit, and Brencis-deal paths.
- Early or alternate outcomes — leaving Vale Sangora, staying in the Home Sweet Home dream, defeating Brencis in the prologue, or entering the same ending through another trigger.
- Epilogue variations — differences caused by character survival and completed questlines after the central finale has already been selected.
Practical reading
If a guide says "14 endings," most of that number is alternate paths and epilogue variations layered on top of a much smaller set of true main endings. Plan around the main endings; the rest are flavour.
The Turncoat and In the Nick of Time
The Turncoat is the Brencis deal route: Coen betrays his allies and bargains with Brencis to recover his family. In the Nick of Time is commonly treated as a closely related variation whose family result depends on reaching the decisive stage before the 30-day sacrifice. Guides group or split these names differently, so do not assume they are universally counted as two wholly separate endings.
The Folk Hero
The Folk Hero is the solo finale: Coen defeats Brencis without relying on Lacra or Crake. It is the route to target when neither ally questline will carry the final assault. The important distinction is independence at the finale, not whether Coen interacted with either character earlier in the campaign.
The Patricide
The Patricide is the Lacra ally route for defeating Brencis. Complete Lacra’s core ally storyline before the final commitment so her route is available. Her optional romance and The Night of Horrors add personal scenes, but romancing Lacra is not required for The Patricide. See the romance guide for that separate branch.
The Knyazmaker
The Knyazmaker is the Crake / Manumit ally route for defeating Brencis. It depends on completing Crake’s conspiracy storyline before the final choice. Crake is the alias used by Marat, his real name; his romance scene is optional and is not itself the ending unlock. The wider Manumit chain is covered in Quests & Rewards.
A Hero They Deserve
A Hero They Deserve is an early ending in which Coen leaves Vale Sangora through the western route in the Briar Sloughs instead of seeing the main conflict through. Some compilations show more than one route variation, but the defining result is leaving the Vale. It should be treated as an early exit rather than another version of the normal castle finale.
Together Forever
Together Forever is the Home Sweet Home early ending. During its dream loop, choose to remain rather than wake and continue the campaign. The choice ends Coen’s journey inside that dream outcome, so make a manual save before committing if you want to return to the main story.
Time Runs Out
Time Runs Out occurs when more than 30 in-game days pass before Coen rescues his family. Brencis sacrifices them, producing the deadline failure outcome. The save can continue in free roam afterward, which is why some guides count this as an ending while others describe it as a failure state that changes the family and epilogue result.
Other Special Route: Prologue Victory
Defeating Brencis during the prologue produces a special early conclusion. Some eight-ending lists count it as its own secret ending; seven-outcome lists tend to fold it into alternate paths. It is a real route, but it does not belong to the ordinary final-act choice structure.
Can You Get Multiple Endings From One Save?
Yes, if you prepare the save before the final branch. Complete the Lacra and Crake / Manumit questlines you want available, then make a manual save before the final quest A Deal with the Devil and its irreversible decisions. Reload that save to test the solo, ally, and deal routes that your completed quest state has unlocked.
One save cannot manufacture missing routes
Reloading only exposes branches already supported by that playthrough. If Lacra’s or Crake’s questline was not completed before the finale, their ally ending will not appear just because you reload. Early endings and the 30-day failure also need saves made before their own trigger points.
What Actually Decides Your Ending
- Final quest choice. A Deal with the Devil branches the ordinary solo, ally, and bargain conclusions.
- Ally quest completion. Lacra and Crake / Manumit must be ready before the final commitment for The Patricide or The Knyazmaker.
- The 30-day deadline. Reaching the rescue before or after the sacrifice changes the family outcome and the In the Nick of Time / Time Runs Out framing.
- Early-ending choices. Leaving the Vale or remaining in the Home Sweet Home dream ends the story before the standard finale.
- Character and world state. Completed quests and survivors change epilogue scenes even when the main finale route is the same.

FAQ
How many endings does The Blood of Dawnwalker have?
There is no published official total. Established guides range from 7 distinct outcomes (PowerPyx) to 8 (PC Gamer) to 14 "Endings & Alternate Paths" (Kephket). The difference is mostly how alternate paths and epilogue variations are counted.
What is the difference between a main ending and an alternate path?
A main ending is a large, distinct conclusion most guides agree on. An alternate path is a branch within a main ending where a late decision changes the final beat but shares the same core outcome. Epilogue variations are smaller closing-scene differences.
Can you see every ending in one playthrough?
You can reload a manual save made before A Deal with the Devil to see several unlocked finale branches. You still need earlier saves or another run for routes whose questlines or early triggers were not prepared.
Is Lacra romance required for The Patricide?
No. The Patricide depends on Lacra’s core ally route. Her optional romance is a separate personal branch and is not the ending requirement.
What determines the major ending routes?
Most major routes are determined by late-game decisions, completed ally questlines, and route-specific conditions rather than one universal progression requirement.
